Outstanding Dues....

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BECOME? When this question is asked, what are the most possible answers we hear? A Doctor, An Engineer or a business magnet. But, least we hear about army and defence. Surprisingly, they are the reason for the freedom we have, to answer the question asked.

I never know the importance of soldiers at an early age. I should thank movies for providing me with enough  information about Soldiers, which I was not taught by any of my teachers, schools and ACADEMICS.

I always ask myself a question. Will I be ready to take up the JOB which gives me food, shelter and money but in return takes my life? Without giving a second thought, my answer will be NO!!. I wonder how can anybody do this? How can someone be gone for months, away from families and not sure of coming back alive? God, What are they made of?

But, what are they fighting for? For a country, which neither takes care of them nor its citizens respect them?

We all owe our lives to each and every Soldier out there who is at risk, just to make sure we are FINE inside our home. Will we ever be able to repay their sacrifice? I doubt that.

What have we done in return for all those fallen heroes? Forget about doing something, we never know who had died for us. Have we ever given a thought about their families? The grief they had undergone? Do they really deserve that? Who is responsible for their children's future? Well, our government is doing its part by compensating 10-50 lakhs for all causalities. But, as citizens, are we doing our part? This made my thoughts go after those real heroes. I may not have the guts to stand there with a gun, but at least I can treat them with respect and honour.

Basically, they need honour, not pity. They need more respect than money. So, What can be done?

Maybe we should have SST - Soldier Service Tax, like GST, which will be utilized for their families in their absence. As we all know their service is what really matters to us than any other goods we purchase.

Maybe we should all standby to each and every soldier's family and make sure their children get proper education without any compromise. Maybe I won't give a second thought, to go to the border, if I know that there is the whole country to look after my family if won't return forever.

Maybe our education system should update at least to the level of movies to impart knowledge that actually makes more sense.

Maybe our media should shift their focus to these warriors than on random overnight celebrities.

It's our duty to assure every solider that his/her family is taken care of while he/she is busy protecting the country. At least this way, we can thank those lionhearts and they will rest in peace literally rather than ending as a mere post in our social media status.

“The True Soldier fights, Not because he hates, what is in front of him, but because he loves, what is behind him.”
